Bootbay
Buying Guide
-
Please
register all your details first.
-
You can pick an area you want to shop in enabling you
to stay in your own county and possibly cutting postage costs.
-
You can browse the whole site and the whole of the
British Isles just by using the dropdown search boxes.
-
If you haven’t got time to search the whole site then
just go to the Advanced Search.
-
We have a “HAGGLE” system which enables you to
“haggle" on the price the buyer is suggesting – the agreement will
be with you and the seller. Don't forget you can make "offers"
as well, most Booters are happy to oblige as long as you are being
reasonable!
-
You might start as a Buyer but you can always sell as
well (see guide below for sellers) Your detail will be registered
already though so you do not need to register again to be a seller.
-
We suggest that you pay using the PayPal
facility, it
is not mandatory but
it’s the safest method and will also give you a history of your
transactions
-
Please remember to read and check the
User Agreement and
Private Policy box when you register.
-
When you buy an item and you are
paying by cheque you should contact the Pitch Holder via email, you
will then be able to ask their address details. We have decided that
this is a better option to all our Pitch Holders and Booters. We
would also ask that you email the Pitch Holder if you intend to
collect - please be courteous and respectful to each other!
-
If you do not intend on going ahead
with your purchase please email the Pitch Holder to tell them of
your intentions - once you have paid the situation cannot be
rectified. If in doubt just shout we are happy to help you!
-
If you feel
you have a problem with a Booter at anytime please remember you can
contact
Resolutions where we aim to help
you sort out your issue of course we are only human and a lot relies
on the co-operation of the "other party".
-
Remember to mark all BootBay
emails as "not junk" this will ensure that you get all emails from
BootBay and Booters alike.
-
And last but not least don't forget to Rate your seller this has
been an issue with a lot of Booters who wish to see how the Pitch
Holders/Buyers are - some people won't have Ratings as they maybe new, but
most of our Booters now, have good ratings and enjoy selling and
buying with BootBay. It also is a good indication of what to expect
when dealing with the Pitch Holder. It is normally best to
rate the Pitch Holder once you have received your goods at this point you
will be delighted with your purchase and want to tell the world -
please do so but please also remember to Rate the Pitch Holder and
perhaps drop a courtesy email to let them know purchases have been
received, it keeps the site happy and friendly, which is what we
pride ourselves on!

Selling Guide
- Please remember to
register your
details first. This will enable you to start selling. If you already
registered with us you do not need to repeat the procedure as we
will have all your details, all you will need is your username and
password to start selling. If you cannot remember you password or
username please contact the webmaster as he will be able to help
you.
- Take photo of all your items in ONE
photo.
Bearing that in mind, please make sure that
all images must be in .jpg format and the file size
should be as small as possible
(below 100k is best - remember buyers with 'dialup' do not want to
wait for your photo to appear!)
Don't have
the necessary software? You may do! You will most likely be using a
digital camera so check the software that came with it. There may be
a 'resize' option or similar. Otherwise, 'Google' for Shareware
Image Editor. There are plenty about!
- You can have a maximum of 25 items on one pitch.
(you can use a 'collection' as on item i.e. three candle holders)
Don't forget you have 15 pitches and all without an end date!
- List all the items, the price you
want to sell at and the condition of the goods by going to
hire a pitch we suggest you name
each pitch differently, but keep your username to the same.
i.e. Toys Galore (user name) Toys1 Toys2 Toys3 etc. (pitch names)
please remember not to use apostrophe's etc in the names.
- When you have sold, had an offer
made or a haggle on item/s you will be notified by an automated
email from
sold@Bootbay,
please make sure that you have marked all mails from BootBay as "not
junk" this is important as you may miss any mails from us or buyers.
You will
then need to go to your "MyBoot" where you will then go to Pitches
here you will be able to see who has bought from you, if you have
any haggles pending or offers, it is then a
good idea to email the Buyer to find out when they will be sending
you a payment, collecting etc. You will also at this point be able
to ask for their address details so that you can post the items to
them once you have received payment.
- We suggest that you use the PayPal
facility it’s the safest method and will also give you history of
your transactions.
- We cannot advise on how long you
should wait to receive payment, we would hope that the Buyer would
send the payment to you on receipt of your details, if you feel that
you would like to receive payment within 5 days of buying then you
could stipulate this when discussing with the Booter. We only
suggest PayPal it is not mandatory, cheques, bank transfers (thus
saving fees) and c.o.d are also fine
if that is what you and the Buyer decide - we at BootBay do
not get involved with this.
- If you decide that you are not able
to sell an item any longer on your Pitch please end your pitches as
soon as is convenient.
- Please use the Postage link for help
with the costs of parcels etc.
- Display your postage costs where
indicated. Please remember to keep postage at cost and take into
account you packaging costs. If you want buyer to collect or you will deliver then
please state in the description when adding details.
-
Please remember to read and check the
User agreement
and
Privacy Policy box when you register. Also, check the
Banned Items for another guide.
-
You will be
e-invoiced for any charges by BootBay (Lorryverts, websitelinks & advertising
space) This is
payable via MyBoot. Payment is due within 14 days of e-invoice. Please
pay via Paypal although we will accept cheques please contact
pam@bootbay
to confirm this is your method of payment beforehand, we then know
we are awaiting for monies to clear. You can send to the
address shown at the bottom of the e-invoice when received.
-
We will be sending a quarterly
email to all our Booters, to make sure you wish to
continue with your pitches.
-
It is always a good idea to do
your "housekeeping" as you would with anything - your pitches need
to be tidy and if you have time it is a good idea to check your
inbox daily. Remember to check you spam/junk folders though they do
tend to creep through!
- We can help
if you feel you have a problem with a seller by going to
resolutions
and emailing your problem to us, we aim to solve the issue where and
when possible but of course this relies on the "other party" also as
we are only human!
- And last but not
least don't forget to Rate your Buyer this has been an issue with a
lot of Booters who wish to see how good the Pitch Holders/Buyers are - some
people won't have ratings as they maybe new to BootBay, but most of
our Booters now, have good ratings and enjoy selling and buying with
BootBay. It also is a good indication of what to expect when dealing
with your Buyer. It is normally best to rate the Buyer once
your payment has been received at this point you will be delighted
with your sale and want to tell the world - please do so but please
also remember to Rate the Buyer and perhaps drop a courtesy email to
let them know payments have been received, and item is on the way to
them, it keeps the site happy and friendly, which is what we pride
ourselves on!
